unexpected slow wu

Alright, my computer usually turns out wu's in about 6 hours or so. I have a P3 667 on a bx with 128mb cas2 memory. For the most part it runs with the monitor turned off. However, on my latest wu, my computer seemed to go belly up, it finished the wu in about 60 hours. Explanations pleeze!!

if so u need to set to blanck screen again!

I know a person that used to do them in 5 hours and got ONE TOUGH W/U
had over 900 pulses!!!! WOW

took him 90 hours to get thru it
 
Are you running SetiQ? I'm not (yet) and since the server was down quite a bit recently that could have a big impact like that.
 
I just installed the newest version, see what that does. Also, I run seti all the time, not just screensaver, but run another screensaver, but then the monitor turns off anyway after about twenty minutes. Would this slow seti down? Is it best to run it as the screensaver and go to blank screen? Thanx!!

I am going to set this up myself in the (very near) future as I keep seeing my system getting stuck somewhere from not connecting etc., and this should help a lot 🙂

On a side note, I just installed 3.0 GUI today and I think it is drastically slower (approx 47% complete in OVER 12 hours *sob* on one machine, not bad on another? We'll see :disgust:
 
tyski, sounds like that wu really made your coumpter work.
Who knows, maybe it found something🙂
 
Hey tyski, it's best to run the text client. However if you want to use the gui the best thing is to have it run all the time, not just as a screensaver. The best thing to do is not run any screensaver. Just set it to none and if you want have your monitor just power down.🙂

 
When you upgrade to GUI 3.0, be sure to set your screensaver back to "Blank Screen" as installing GUI 3.0 resets S@H as the screensaver and will drastically increase your times!!!

 
.......its in the screen saver settings BTW ,incase you coudn't find it.

I would also check that SETI is still getting around 98% cpu useage with little else running ,if you don't have a task manager ,try this 1 🙂
