Understanding wide angle

My goal is to have a decent camera that takes pics and vids in 16:9. I have my eye on this camera, but I don't fully understand the wide angel bit.

I understand the photos will be wider, but will the perspective be the same as my standard photos taken by 4MP HP, or will the image look bent/curved?

This image shows an example of what I would like.

This one shows the curve that I am concerned about.

The image will be like the one without curves. To get curves you've gotta get wider than just 25mm.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping for. It's not the most serious camera, but I think it will be a good P+S for a couple of years.

Wow, I like your photos. The aquarium ones are my fav.!

Thanks again.
