A while back I saw a thread that had differant websites on how to explain the movie, and the differant aspects within the movie. I tried searching for Matrix, understanding the matrix... etc. If anyone can help me out, its for a school project

Read The Invisibles comic series by Grant Morisson and you'll understand a hell of a lot more. Including where the Brothers W got the idea from.
 
1. Human creates machine
2. Machines rebel a la Terminator
3. Don't recall if the movie explains it but war ensues, human decides to block out the sun 'cause the machines were solar powered I think?!? Human loses war.
4. Machines needed alternate source of power so enslave humans and use their bodies as a conduit of sorts to generate electricity.
5. To keep humans from waking up from this enslavement, they create the Matrix. A virtual world where the subconscious of your body is implanted.

I think thats the gist of the Matrix.
 
Sorry, what i ment to say, is the meaning of the differant parts of the matrix. References to diffferant relgions, and such. not just the gyst of it. i got the gyst, but I am looking for meaning behind everything
