Is it love at first sight? or a gene related problem that can't be cured? thought, I cannot be gay even if I wanted to, its just against my preference.

I don't think there is an answer to that question. You're just born that way.

Some men like asian women, others big busted blondes. Some like their women small, others like them with curves. Some like redheads, other's brunettes. Those are all "hardwired" preferences that we really can't explain why we like them...it's just that we do.

It's my belief that sexual preference on gender is the same. It's just something that you like without really being able to explain why.

yay, same thread that's been started at least 500 times before. starts w/ a relatively innocuous question and later escalates to a flame war between the religious zealots and self-proclaimed science "buffs."

3...2...1....action!

Hmm...not necessarily.

Homosexuality is in a very large part a chemical/hormonal change in the brain, but it is also in part due to the environment while growing up. It's a lot more complicated in humans than in animals because of the sheer number of external variables that affects sexuality during periods of maturation. Some people become homosexual out of rebellion, or as a side effect of abuse.

"True" homosexuality is in a large part shown to be developed before birth, though.

As far as preferences to "type" of woman, there are so many things that affect it it's almost impossible to narrow it down. I'd hardly say it's hard wired though.

I'm not implying that there is, I was just trying to understand the poster's motivation for starting this again. :)

Gay is gay..... Please leave this subject alone. There are those that see nothing wrong with it and there are those that think it is the most sickening thing that could ever be done.

How can you look at a man's hairy ass and say mmm that looks good..

If by that you mean faith in the discontinuation through lack of natural procreation by humanity, then perhaps.

How can heterosexual men look at a hairy vagina and say "mmm, that looks good". Thgink about it - what if she was on her period and had just urinated. Sounds yummy, doesn't it? ;) It's as equally disgusting as an ass, so you have no argument.

There have been a couple of studies done, where identical twins were separated at birth and adopted out. In this particular study, the intention was to highlight the fact that genetically identical twins, separated at birth, can exhibit very different behavior and personality disorders. A couple of cases had one twin develop schizophrenia, while the other developed into what would be considered a normal, healthy and productive part of society.

If we ever get to the bottom of this, I believe that it will similarly be revealed, that sexual attraction is something that sociologically and behaviorally develops as a child is being raised.

No, faith in the human character. It seems this board in particular has a problem with the idea that *gasp* some people find these activites enjoyable, and that they shouldn't just write a person off because they enjoy them. Everyone has their own tastes, why should one be favoured over the other?

Again, we all have preferences. Some sick individuals like a bloody one while others don't.

Actually the twin studies indicated homosexuality had both genetic and social components. ie- being the genetic twin of a gay person doesn't automatically make you gay, but the odds of you being gay are higher than that of a non-related person or even a non-twin sibling.
