Wait, I forgot a couple:

Of Mice and Men. Fantastic.

In the Name of the Father - from the early 90's, but it's awesome.

Adaptation - an all-around good movie.

Awakenings - old movie, but I remember it being decent...

The Fifth Element - I watch it every time it's on TNT, I don't really know why.... lol

Quills (one of my favorites) - Geoffrey Rush is fantastic.

Being John Malkovich - I like Charlie Kaufman movies for some reason, he's just neurotic.

Better Luck Tomorrow - highly recommended. EDIT - wait, already on the list, scratch that. 🙂

Adaptation - I've never seen it, mainly because Nicholas Cage is in it. I really should give it a chance though. Added.

Awakenings - great movie. Added.

Fifth Element - A 7.3 on IMDB, plus it made over $260 million worldwide; not sure I can add it because I hear it recommended all the time, with nary a bad word said about it

Quills - Always meant to see this. Added.

Of Mice and Men - Fantastic movie. Great work by both Sinise and Malkovich. Added.

BJM - This is a tough call. Fantastic movie, but it seems to be quite highly rated and it was up for 3 Oscars.

The Island.

Interesting. I had always assumed it was garbage, but after reading a bit more on it I think it may be worth a viewing. Added.

it was alright. Nothing spectacular. Good action movie with good actors. Sean Bean + scarlett + Ewan McGregor + Steve Buscemi = good times. Just don't expect anything mind boggling.

Yeah, the actors were the main reason I wanted to see it before, but I had others tell me not to bother. I think it looks worthy of a rental.

Oh, I got a couple :

Logan's Run! (The Island stole many elements from this classic work!)

Everything is Illuminated (A comfortably odd piece of comedy/drama/mystery with Elijah Wood)

Better off Dead (Hilarious young John Cusack)

Is this thread alive?

THREAD NECROMANCY FTW!!!

How about 'The Hidden', a creepy fun alien-possession flick from the 80s, complete with a brutal chase in a Ferrari.

Oh, definitely alive, I've just been very busy and have not had a chance to do the full update I want.

I will add all of the ones you listed, though I've never seen The Hidden, looks interesting. 🙂

I didn't know the Island was under rated... I thought it did well. I like that movie.

My vote is "A Bronx Tale" although I think that was an HBO movie, can't remember.

It bombed in the domestic market but it has a somewhat respectable 6.9 on IMDB, so I would classify it as moderately underrated.

Bronx Tale added; I saw this around 10 years ago or so and I thought it was very well done. I know few people that have seen it outside of myself though.

Oh crap, have you seen 'A guide to recognizing your Saints'? Go watch the trailer now! It's quite interesting, and very .. alive when you watch it. It doesn't have a canned feel at all.

Just watched the trailer and it looks good, now to try and find it for rent around here...

The Others

BTW... am I the only one here who actually liked Vanilla Sky?

Nope, I think I'm the other person on the planet that enjoyed it, though I did think the original version was much better in almost every way, aside from the make-up of course.

I will add pretty much all of the other ones you guys mentioned; there are some really good ones there. I thought Killing Zoe was a fantastic movie, in fact I think I still own it on VHS, but with no way of watching it. :frown:

@Summit: really? I've heard nothing but terrible things about 10,000 BC. Care to elaborate on why you liked it?

KT

Edit: By the way I'm about 1/3 of the way through updating the master list with more information and separating them out. It will probably still take me a few days to complete.
