Not a PC game, but little league baseball for NES is still one of my favorite sports games of all time. Really fun to play against someone. Modern baseball games are just so slow and boring. (so is baseball)

baseball stars by snk was the best!

Not recent but Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (2006).

I really liked it, but it took me a few days and a couple of sessions (longer each time) to finally get the hang of it and start to appreciate it. I never liked it when I first tried playing it to be honest, but I convinced myself to keep trying, good thing I did. I haven't completed it more than one time though, but I really did liked the entire play-through, and good voice acting, in my opinion. The story wasn't exactly good (not bad either), but I'm mostly thinking of the game-play itself which is what I liked, especially the physics back then, since I had only played Half-Life 2 with similar physics prior to Dark Messiah.

Was just about to post my recommendation of this game.

Best first person melee combat in any game I have played and nothing more satisfying than kicking creatures into beds of spikes and off cliff edges. I enjoyed the level design too.

The Last Express

Beloved by the adventure crowd, but was a commercial disappointment. Only $6 at GOG.com.

Funny, a decade ago, I had bought some game by 3DO, and if I recall the game server had been shut down before I got around to playing or there was some problem like that, and I talked to them and they were near me so I visited them, and a couple representatives like a service manager met me and replaced the old game with Messiah of Might and Magic.

It's still in the box. Sigh.

Global Agenda, though queues have taken longer as the population has decreased.

Prototype 1 - I loved this game, but critics panned it. Some extreme parkour movement and seriously hard gameplay, wrapped up in an evolving city sandbox with alien/whatever outbreaks? Loved it; just think it was too hard for most people to enjoy it (since most games are super-easy).

The Saboteur - Bad sales killed it, but great sandbox destruction game. Nudity, blowing Nazi stuff up, getting into GTA-style situations with half the German army after you, old cars and atmosphere, including a grey-scale washout whenever in Nazi controlled territory - great game.
