underrated - country music

man, I've been a country fan for three years now. I used to be one of those ppl who sed "I like everything but country." I might as well sed "I like everything but great music and hot girls." It's a shame that ppl listen to music that sounds terrible, has terrible/meaningless/cliched lyrics just because everyone else is listening to it. And I'm not talking about N*SYNC here guys...I'm talking about you ppl who listen to anti-poseur music to be different.
Give country a try. Plz. It's not all beloved patriot tonk. The reason I'm posting this is because I noticed that it took forever for Jamie O'Neal to get to #1 on the billboard charts. Her song Arizona has some of the cleverest lyrics...another favorite? Tim McGraw - Everywhere... even my asian parents are moved by that song.
How did this start? Well MTV stopped playing videos, and even VH1...so I was bored and watched CMT here in ithaca (we don't even have it in westchester county near nyc) ... great looking chiks got me started...great music/lyrics got me hooked.

hm well i like some of the newer country.. the stuff the oldsters bitch about not being pure country or whatever. Yea the chicks are hot🙂

I like some country, not alot, I'm more into rock/country mix. If you ever are out look for a corey stevens cd. He grew up in my town adn isn't a hugely known artist yet but plays a mean guitar and I think his music has a bit of a country sound to it. My fave songs are probably "Road to Zen", "Charles Bronson Vibe", and "Too much Fun". Give it a try, I think you'll like it 🙂

Country is definitely better than say, Puffy, or Eminem, and that other various rap-crap.

One of my particular faves is "How Do You Like Me Now". The video is hilarious. Can't remember the artist's name though.

toby keith ... it's a really cute video ... I like his new single "You shouldn't kiss me like that..." however, I'm unclear about the video's plot ...if anyone could fill me in? the girl the boy likes in the movie seems markedly older, and she sez to visit during school? i dunno seems like a frendz mom?

I prefer the "older" country music.

Country Boy Can Survive - Hank Williams Jr.

Country .... ack. Don't say I haven't listened, had a GF that listened to it all the time. I'd rather listen to trance/techno... Country songs are often about crap like how someones wife/dog/kid left them or got hit by a truck. Hell I even prefer R&B to Country.

No offense but the attractive female artists are not enough to get me engaged into the genre. I still find nearly all country hateful, regardless of the hotness of a few of its artists. Too bad for me, I guess, since I live in Oklahoma.

Someone go listen to some corey stevens, I think you'll like it. Very rock-ish just a little country sound 🙂

Nah, no cun-trah moozik for me...

My momma never got run over by a train, and my pickup truck didn't get hit by a deer, and I did NOT accidentally shoot myself in the foot with my 90 year old shotgun. My hat is fine, my dog is alive, and mysel and my family is in perfect health for the most part. What would I have to sing about, then? 🙂

Don't worry, I've started getting into it recently. Its not all as bad as it seems. Except some of these songs have turned me into a lovesick fool.

The problem with country for me is the lyrics are too emotional and laden with love-references. Usually the delivery by the artist is long and drawnn out, "twangy" tone. It's irritating at times.

The cowboy boots and fancy brown hats are also... how shall we say... "unappealing" attire too. 😀

<< underrated - country music >>

You think so? I grew up in an area infested with country music (prairie farm country), but I thought it sucked. I've matured a bit, and now I think only about 98% of it sucks. 😛

<< that's great lordmaul, i was hoping to convert ppl like you...give it a try >>

Why do people feel the need to convert other people's music taste?

Oh, and country isn't underrated. It sells plenty well....it just isn't on MTV or Billboard...so what

very few country artists sell, unless they crossover, a la Shania Twain or Leanne Rimes<sp?>. They cross over cuz there are not enough country fans out there.

A joke my dad always told:

What do you get when you play a country record backwards?

you get your truck back, your dog back, your momma back, your wife back, your trailer home back..

I don't normally listen to Country music, but Alabama's "Greatest Hits Vol. 2" is one of my favorite CDs, when I'm in the mood for it, of course. 🙂

When I was a freshman in college, my roommate (who was the most vile, evil creature on earth,... she was so loose that an entire floor of guys wanted nothing to do with her) would listen to country nonstop, usually the same song repeated for about a week. Because of my dislike for her, I also disliked her music (which, truth to tell, I never really liked to begin with, but the association to her made it worse). To this day, I can't stand country.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
nothing i hate more then country music.
🙂
No offence to your liking, but I cant stand it.
And I never will be able to.
The guitar sound in general just tears my ears apart.
