Does somebody want to explain the meaning behind the lyrics of this song, or am I just reading too much into it? 😕

Also, could Shakira have a more annoying voice? It's like mixing Jewel with Kermit the Frog. :disgust: No pics, BTW. Go find them yourself.
 
I totally don't have any idea how to explain the lyrics. I can say I'm as confused as you, but hey, it's a good song. It could be that its loosely translated from spanish so maybe it isn't as clear to some of you who likes to dissect the entire song 😀
 
you know that saying "the clothes make the man"? well this is more or less saying the man makes the man and clothes don't have a flip to do with it.

oh yeah, mexican soap operas ROCK, they go along their story faster (most are over in 6 months) and they don't have stupid age jumps like days of our lives or just plain stupid plots like passions

I'm thinking that "clothes" is being used figuratively, meaning that the man she is talking about is hiding his true self under layers of personality, like clothes hide our naked bodies from everyone to view.
 
Shakira sounds much better in Spanish....she loses the Kermit The Frog effect for some reason.

My wife is latin, so I watched Shakira perform live for years on various shows and was always impressed. I was surprised when her voice sounded so different when she sang in English.

BTW, I watch those soap operas too. The one I'm watching with my wife now is basically an incestual Les Miserables.

If you think these lyrics are confusing, try reading the lyrics to Garbage's Cherry Lips. I'm not sure what they are trying to say.

sad to admit it but i watch both, my sisters watch them religiously and the pc at home is in the same room that they watch.

The mexican ones (telenovelas) i watch to help me with my learning and becoming fluent in spanish. 😀 good way to practice

I have a couple of Shakira's music videos here, one is Ojos Asi and the other is Suerte (Wherever, Whenever in the States). It's like 10000 times better in Spanish. I'd attribute the wierd attonation of her voice to the pressure of learning english quickly.

The song is about her fiance, the son of the former President of Argentina(the one who stepped down this year or last, after the country went down the crapper).
