Underclocking

Hello,

I own a Notebook with 650MHz Celeron with BGA Socket. Changing the CPU is just as easy as changing a desktop CPU (once you've figured out how to open up the case). I'm pretty lucky with this System but I don't really need the computing power. I'd rather have a slower CPU that runs less hot and consumes less power. SiSoft Sandra tells me that the CPU has 1.7V and it doesn't tell me anything about other available clock speeds.
As well I can't find any jumpers on the mainboard to adjust CPU voltage or frequency.
I'd be lucky about any available information about Notebooks CPUs, unlocking them etc.
As well I would like to know if disableing the L2 Cache would make the CPU run cooler, or maybe even hotter (because the actual CPU has more work to do with all the cache misses).

Cheers..

I very much doubt you'll be able to choose any other FSB speed, have you checked the makers website?
You might be able to use soft FSB to change the FSB from windows.

Don't bother disabling the L2 cache ,too much of a peformance hit.
BTW have you tried a software cooler to throttle back the cpu under light loads?(eg Rain )

If you're interested in any of these proggys I'll give ya some links
