Alright, I'm lookin' for a little more oomph in system, but I don't have too much money to spend. Right now, I have a Abit KT7 (which I can't hit 133 MHz with even though it's a VIA KT133 chipset), 512 MB PC133 SDRAM memory, and a GF2 Pro. Although I can run Half-Life and Counterstrike at a full 100 fps w/ 4x anti-aliasing @ 800x600, I'm lookin' for a little more, since I just started playing the game released by the US Amry, Army Operations. Very graphic intensive, due to it being outdoors w/ fog and whatnot.
Anyways, I don't want to change my motherboard nor my memory because, well, I'm cheap. It there anyway I can underclock a newer chip? Is there any architecture differences between the Athlon XPs and the Athlon Thunderbirds that would make me unable to run a say, an Athlon XP 2000+ (1.67 GHz, 12.5 x 133 MHz...correct me if I'm wrong) on my older KT7? Of course I'll be running it at 1250 MHz (12.5 x 100 MHz), since the KT7 sucks...but is what I'm saying possible?
Oh, I guess I'm forgetting core voltages and crap like that. I have the 200 MHz FSB Thunderbird...so if anyone can name the specifics, that'd help.
I used to know all this stuff, but I stopped following it after I got interest in cars. :Q Anyways, if any of you could help, that'd be great. Also, one other thing...is it possible for me to upgrade to a GF4 TI-4200 or some newer card? I was hearing things about needing a 1.5v AGP slot, and I have no idea what I have... Thanks all!
