If there weren't underachievers, barely achievers like myself would be considered underachievers. Wait - I think I just game myself a headache...

What's worse is people who think they are underachievers. For example, a dumbass that I know that claims "ahm real smart, ah just don't apply mahself"

Right.

Relative to whom? I'm certain in some circles a crack dealer is somehow an achiever, so you have to consider your baseline. No matter how successful you think you are, there are scores more who will still perceive you as an underachiever. Just work hard to make you happy, and don't worry about everyone else.

What is underacheiving? Just because someone has the capacity to acheive at a certain level does not mean that they have the actual ability to do so.
Also, different people have different priorities. Some people may think of success only in sheer monetary terms while others may be more concerned with family.
What bothers me more are people who make little to no attempt to acheive their personal goals, and then blame everyone else but themselves for their failure. Now that bothers me.

Define underachiever.

I used to get that whole "not working up to potential" thing back in school. Finally it dawned on me that it was just code for "not following stupid rules".

It's my life. Let me define my own achievement level.
