Just rented the movie ?Defiance? this weekend. It is good under the radar movie. It has WWII plot and is a story about survival. Also, doesn't get carried away with the special effects. I recommend it along with the movie ?Taken?.

Defiance wasn't under the radar. It has Daniel Craig who's a huge star now but it was just an ok movie. Nothing to rave about.

Not trying to start a flame, but it was my understanding it was not promoted that much at the box office. Also, do you real see Daniel Craig as a major star? I know he was in James Bond, but would you currently put him in the same category with stars like Clint Eastwood, Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise? I am not saying he can't get there I just thought he was more like an up and coming actor at this point.

Has anyone seen the movie Miracle at Santa Anna? I have heard some good things about it and am curious?

I recorded St. Anna on my DVR. It was released this weekend on one of the HBO/Showtime channels. I haven't watched it yet but it looks really interesting.

I keep seeing it on the Redbox, but haven't checked it out, I suppose I will now.

My wife and I watched "Let the Right One In" the other night. Interesting take on the vampire movie formula, if a bit ... uncomfortable.

I can't help but feel that it is pandering to certain groups -- of which I am not part of and so have a hard time identifying with the characters.

The movie didn't elicit the level of emotion that the director may have wanted out of me.

If you are talking about the fear of it falling into a PC film. I had that concern initially, but I thought they did a good job of not making it the main issue. Instead, it came across to me as a certain group of people (who I could just as easily been a part of if I were born then and such) was persecuted and how a reluctant leader and his brother helped them get through it.

fucking terrible. avoid it like you would the moon plague.
Dare I ask what the moon plague is?

Best underrated movie is Ronin
Only rated 7.2 on IMDB and it grossed ~40M with a 55M budget. Has some of the best action and car chase sequences.

I liked "Fallen" with Denzel Washington. Megastar? Yes, but the 11yo movie was and is still kinda under the "radar." Wicked-cool chase scene like no other movie... more subtle, but way better than his over-the-top typical Bruckheimer-directed "time window" chase in "Deja Vu."

I started watching it the other day on AMC or some other HD channel, and the portion I viewed was good enough to force me to stop and wait to see it in the entirety - well worth it.

Hell yes. Ronin is one of my fave movies. Awesome car chase scene. I put the chase scene up there with Bullitt, French Connection, and the original Gone in Sixty Seconds.

Is it really a good movie or is it people feeling sorry for Mickey Rourke? I would have probably have already seen this movie already if it were not about wrestling. Is it really good?

Also, Ronin was a good chase scene movie. Anybody who like racing cars would like it.

It is fantastic. I wouldn't call it underrated, though, as it gets so much praise. If anything, it could only be overrated...which it most certianly is not. ;)

Also +1 props for:

Ronin
Redbelt (which has set me off into a recent David Mamet kick)

Ronin is not under-rated. Its a solid film, good execution but doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Its good, but neither under or over rated.

BTW, I saw Miracle At Saint Anna last night and was not impressed. It was a decent film, but nothing special. I believe Defiance was much better in comparison.
