Uncorrectable Sector Count

Raduque

Lifer
I have a drive showing 2 as the value for "Uncorrectable sector count". It was showing 2 for "pending sector count" yesterday before I removed it from my drive pool and reformatted it. It has no other negative values, and no other reds or yellows Crystal Disk Info.

This was an external drive that hit a temp of about 56-57C while I was removing another drive from my drive pool. I put a fan on it when I noticed the temp and it dropped down to about 40c.

Exactly how bad is a 2 for uncorrectable sector count?

Not terrible. I would work on getting it replaced soon if you can but honestly 2 isn't terrible and it's more concerning if that number keeps going up. I actually have a drive that was used for some various stuff that was steady at 200 for years.

The drive is several years old, at least 4. It went out of warranty in 2017. It's not used for anything mission-critical. I was planning on replacing it with a 6tb drive before too much longer - end of the year at the latest. It, and two 2tb and one 1.5tb.
