Did you check the MD5 sum of the disk to see if it's good? Also, how about trying to install without booting to the desktop.

what do you mean without booting to the desktop? it just goes there automatically.

I don't know if it has changed since I last installed, but when you pop the LiveCD in and reboot, you should eventually be brought to a screen that asks you to press enter, or something. You can type in the field, and I think if you type "install" you can skip the whole desktop process.

But again, this may have changed. My Ubuntu CD's are all Breezy Badger, I just manually update them to Edgy. 😉

how come 6.10 isn't available on their site?

I beleive it is because 'Edgy' is still in beta. At 'Knot 3' or something like that.
6.6 Dapper is still the current official release. So I figure they aren't going to have it too easily aviable in case somebody who doesn't know Linux to well won't accidently try the beta.

Knot 3 was the Alpha release of Edgy. It moved into beta as...Edgy Eft Beta on the 26th/28th of September. The final release is on the 26th...or 28th. I'm bad with dates.

bump for help, i cant get to the point while booting to install without going to desktop. and its still wont work in desktop mode.

Mine took a REALLY long time on the partition part...at least 30 minutes. I thought it was hung but it wasn't.

did you have to click it twice? like the first time it says it is unable to, but then it works all of a sudden, then the waiting.

sounds like a full format compared to a quick format.
bah 🙂

Let me guess, the drive you're trying to resize is ntfs? Before I had problems resizing an ntfs partition, but I believe I solved it by doing a chdsk in windows.
