Unbrick your PSPwith a Pandora Battery.

Linkage.

Linkage to battery with 2 gig stick

- PSP 2000 (slim) battery form factor -- can also be used on PSP 1000 in pandora mode
- Unique pandora battery <--> normal battery switch
- 4-LED indicator displays current battery charge state and mode
- To switch mode to Pandora: push button on battery for 10 seconds, LED flashes indicating pandora mode
- To switch mode to Normal mode: while in Pandora mode (LED flashing), push button again to return to normal mode (LED goes off)
- Factory pre-modifed as Pandora battery
- When plugged into an PSP, enables developer/recovery mode in PSP
- Allows recovering from bad ROM flashes and other bricks
.
- Note: this pandora battery forces PSP to enter recovery mode every time the PSP is turned on. Because the pandora feature can be digitally turned on and off, this battery can also serve as a normal battery for playing games.

Pros: I got five of these white batteries and to my surprise all of these were PSP-1000 form factor like sku 12472 and not PSP 2000 (slim) battery form factor as in the overview. Also the batteries were 3.6v and 1800mAh. The one I tested was not factory pre-modifed as Pandora battery and I had to press the button 10 seconds to get it to Pandora mode. In Pandora mode the four leds are blinking two at the time. Pressing the button again makes the battery normal. Fits to both PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 models. Works as a standard battery as well. Build quality is very good. Very innovative product!

Cons: Misleading overview. Nothing wrong with the product.

picked this up last week.. havent used it yet.. looks like battery in picture.. came with 2 gb card.

A pandora battery (and a jigstick-configured memory stick pro duo) will boot a PSP into service mode, even if it's "bricked." Most bricked PSPs can thus be restored. However, a PSP unbricked in this fashion will be missing some custom IPL info or something so it won't play UMDs anymore and a few other issues like adhoc networking.

As pointed out above, the most common use of putting the PSP into service mode is to load custom firmware, allowing the use of unsigned code on the memory stick. People play homebrew and/or play ISOs copied off UMDs (or downloaded).

Note: the newest PSP slims cannot be put into service mode with a pandora battery. I think anything built after July is likely to be immune to the pandora trick. Anyone who loads custom firmware onto a Madden09 PSP, for instance, is very fortunate.

bought one of the batteries a few months ago and was the bigger ones -- worked great in unbricking the slim one (just had to hold the battery in place).

and that 2gig chip is soooooo counterfeit.

So I won't be able to play UMD's anymore? I ran out of battery power during an update and according to everything I have read my PSP is now irreversibly bricked. I thought if I used one of these it would restore it to normal working order. Am I wrong?

Dont know about umd movies, but umd games work fine with one that has been pandorized with the battery and stick.

I got my pandora battery in the mail today. I believe I bricked my PSP when updating the firmware(battery died while update was taking place). So I got one of these battery's to fix it. I put the Pandora in switch the psp on and the screen is blank 🙁

I tried putting the battery in pandora mode and switching the PSP on and the screen is still black and blank. Any ideas what to do?

Thanks

Don't know if its still possible but you can make your psp slim original battery into a pandora. Just open the battery and cut a single trace in the circuit. After you're done then reconnect the trace with a lead pencil. I did this about a year ago and it was really quite easy. No need to buy anything at all. You will need a memory stick but if you're going to pandorize your psp you should have lots of memory sticks already 😀
