Story

Every day I read the papers and someone somewhere is covering his ass or bank account with a cute little excuse.Well this idiot is definitely in the top 10!
Regarding the Caylee Sunshine Doll. "Profits will go to missing and EXPLOITED children."
"We want to give ? we're not trying to get rich" and finally,"Salcedo told Channel 4 that while he has suspended sales of the doll, he is going forward with sales of T-SHIRTS, BRACELETS and stickers with the saying "Caylee Sunshine."
The Prosecution Rests!

They don't look at the thing that Caylee's in heaven right now and she's dancing and singing and she's joyous and in a better place than any of us here."

I don't see anything wrong with this. Good old American Capitalism imo. Proceeds are going to a cause of some sort even. That's better than some out there.

Kind of reminds me of when I was at a local festival and saw a both for funding raising in the name of Meredith Emerson (if anyone recalls that, happened last year where some cute hiker girl got abducted and decapitated, really tragic local story). Anyway they were selling all sorts of stuff related to her and hiking safety and while it was all for a seemingly good cause, I still couldn't help but feel a bit like they were cashing in on her tragic story.

Standard sleazeball marketing trick. The facts are that only that the douche buys the dolls wholesale for -- what? maybe $6-8, maybe less, in bulk from China -- sells them for $30, and promises to donate a big $3 to this "charity".

Even the paltry $3 per donation is a semi-lie, as a-holes like this factor "expenses" into their accounting that drastically reduces the stated $3 per downwards . . . bet on it, that's the way this business model is done. :|

Just over a month after a utility worker found Caylee's remains, Jaime Salcedo's company, Showbiz Promotions, created a doll with intention to donating $3 from the sale of each $29.95 doll to charity.

Exactly. The cliffs of your reply are simply "good old american capitalism". Preying on the guilty and ignorant has been a money maker since anyone can remember. If he didn't do it then someone else would have. I tip my hat to someone that takes a stab at money making opportunity. Its reality. Again, there are way more shameful ways to make a buck.
