It's none of your business. Particularly when you refer to the guy as 'girlfriend's girlfriend's fiance'. Save the lecture on financial responsibility for your siblings/spouse/best friend. It really is that simple.

It's a celebration dinner, not a life lecture dinner.

This was not your place nor the appropriate time for you to make comments like that.

You are clearly in the wrong, even though your intention may be good. You will not do very well in life if you have no tact, this is a good lesson and you shall learn from your mistakes.

He probably has some pretty good weed, so at least you can have access to that once he's married into your family. Plus as a family member you could probably get some pretty good deals, way to fuck that up man.

EDIT: On a more serious note, who the fuck cares. You have no tact whatsoever, you assume that you're ethics and ideas are correct, and in that case you come off as a huge arrogant ass. I'm sure those comments only confirmed that to be true to the rest of the party.

"Too bad for me though, I really wanted to test drive that car."

lol

you'll come to a point in life when you realize that speaking what you really think may not be the best option.

I think a simple correction on his conceived idea of only living once would have set him straight.

I'm the asshole? You live with your parents in the ghetto and buy a luxury SUV and I'm the idiot for pointing it out?
Well if it's obvious to you don't you think it's obvious to him? What good did you think it would do to insult him?

If he lives in the projects, his Range Rover is probably only "average" for the neighborhood.

This guy is definitely not marrying into my (or my gf's family). I would never sanction that.

EDIT: He didn't even allow me to play with the radio.

Now we come to the real head of the problem. It's his radio, in his car that you clearly wish you could have. So, stop being jealous and let him live his life, or else go and buy a Range Rover so you can stop making threads.

He works for cable and they pay $27/hour.

umm.. $27/hour isn't even close to the salary you'd need to even think about buying an $80,000 vehicle.

They get a lot of overtime, which comes out to over $100K a year.

. I'm just making a point regarding his character. He's a first class selfish asshole.

I wonder what he sells. My experience says that weed guys stick with Yukons and that price range. This kid must push some yay.

EDIT: He could sell just tree, if he makes 27/ hr plus overtime weed would be a great source of supplemental, non taxable income.

He's not a drug dealer.

it's not really your place to criticize a casual acquaintances life decisions, especially in front of his friends/family.

Certainly bad timing. But if there is genuine concern for the gf's friend, then it could have been simply pointed out in some subtle way - half his income going to a vehicle like a teenager - so that the friend would notice. She could then make up her own mind - one of which she hopefully does possess.

The way I figure, if everyone was financially responsible, there would be much more competition between the upper class. I say, let the poor stay poor and don't be an asshole at a celebration.
