I make a modest wage as a DoD consultant - less than six figures. When I go overseas in the service, I actually take a paycut. I also made a decent wage before the war. In fact, my civilian salary has only increased about 20% in nine years. (that's < 3% increase per year). Heck, I spend a good chunk of my money driving my pickup truck 102 miles - to work and back - every day.

My wife makes half of what I make. We live in Northern VA where the money does not go very far at all. We live in small townhouse that I just bought (my first house), and we have rooms that have no furniture in them at all!

The funny thing is, with my experience, degrees, and background, I'd probably make at least twice as much working in the private sector doing information security work or business intelligence. I could probably ask for $200k at any bank or Fortune 100 company in North America! Heck, i've been offered that much and turned it down!

I've also turned down many lucrative contracting opportunities in Iraq and Afghanistan. When I've gone over, I've done so as a soldier. I do what i do because i believe in the missions and I'm proud of my role in the WOT. It's a job that needs doing.

So what was your point again? Oh ya... you were lying.

ok , I don't know for a fact. But I'm 99.9% sure because following a thread back a couple of years ago. I seen a picture of him in Afghanistan in an Infantry uniform on a lets say major site.
I could go on but I think palehorse could prove it if he wanted too
So ya, I'm convinced anyway

I haven't been involved in either Afghanistan (other then doing what I could to talk my son out of joining up, after spending a life time telling him he should) and I'm pretty much against the illegal invasion of Iraq 😉
