I saw this article this morning and wondered if this phrase was new in the lexicon of the "undocumented immigrant" vs. "illegal alien" debate. "If you control the terms, you control the argument."

A quick Google search lead me to this article from 1994. In the article the phrases

unauthorized aliens
unauthorized workers
unauthorized immigrant workers

Are these better phrases than the more common, aforementioned terms?

"Illegal extended duration tourist criminal invader alien" works best for me :)

Anything else is just PC bullshit to make them seem not as bad as they really are.

They are certainly workers. Once you get them trained on high standards no one works harder IME. Gonna get amnesty need to stop the hate IMO for more harmony.

Which were our ancestors-invaders or illegal aliens?

Mine came in with a student visa and then got green cards then citizenship. You talking 1600s? Not many of us are related to that group. USA has had immigration quotas from the very beginning and even locked out people entirely for a few years when economics were poor. The history is not good for you if you are claiming we had open immigration all the time and it should be that way forever after. Economics certainly should play a role in immigration numbers. However when you have they are here already, millions of their children in schools I think you have to be pragmatic and call them citizens.

Doesn't much matter because the native Indians fought them tooth and nail to a great degree and ultimately lost.

So, let's repeat history and shoot every fucking one we see. Winner takes all.

My understanding is the preferred term to use is "undocumented immigrant" which doesn't even imply there is anything amiss. "Unauthorized" clearly says they did something wrong.

I need to visit my undocumented pharmacist and pick up some unauthorized substances and think before I make up my mind.

On second thought, I like illegal alien.

Colonialists were a mixture of things. In some cases they were invaders and criminals. But one thing is sure, they weren't handed anything. They made it work.

Modern illegal aliens are criminals and don't do much for themselves.

I like "workers keeping my produce and menial labor affordable."

I bet senseamp's one of those people that goes and buys something everytime he gets a coupon or "offer" in the mail. You're just subsidizing menial labor (and not really since there's minimum wage) and produce. But it's not cheaper because you're paying for their diabetes medicine and schooling for families of six.

And btw, produce is not that expensive in Western European countries where they don't have hordes of Mexican peasants.

Define "not that expensive".

Canada doesn't have hoards of wetbacks and produce here is literally twice as expensive as the US. In Europe it's even more expensive.

Did you not know beautiful ray of sunshine is a derogatory slur?

Next time, clean it up before you hit post

That's a stereotype.

They have hordes of other peasants, and food is more expensive with less variety.

Actually there were no Federal quotas until the 20th century. The Naturalization Act of 1790 set certain racial requirements for naturalization only and did not speak to residency.
