So, long story short, I got a new cpu, plugged in my ide cables. Booted up and now my data drive shows up as unallocated space. I've heard acronis disk director can put it back the way it was. Can the trial version do this? What option do you have to use in the disk director?

If you mean you put a new HD in your pc just right click on my computers, go to MANAGA, go to disk manager, right click on the unallocated space and create a new basic drive using all the space... format, assign drive letter of your choice, Job Done

Sorry for the long delay in replying. Thanks for your replys by the way. I booted up and the hd was regognized but was not showing any of the data I had on it before. Anyway I reseated the cables, and booted up and the partitions were back as well as the data. Maybe a couple of days later I was getting error messages about write delay and write failure to c$ and d$ which are the partitions that are on that drive and looking that up it seems people were saying that getting those errors is a sign the drive is going bad. So I copied the most important stuff over, I bought another HD and copied some more stuff. Anyway I haven't been getting those write delay errors in a while and it seems like the drive is working fine now but I have a feeling I'm going to try them pretty soon and they aren't going to show any data again.
