Just upgraded to MSI K7T Pro2-A, Duron 850

upgrade went smooth as hell, all drives detected.

It sees my zip drive (internal), i have read access to my zip drive, but everytime i try and write to the zip drive, everything freezes up, and i have to reboot.

I have tried different zip disks, made sure they werent write protected, etc...no luck yet.

Any suggestions?

Also installed, CDRW, CD-Rom, HD, Floppy..

I have no solution, yet, but I am experiencing the exact same problem. I just built a machine, MSI K7T Pro2-A Athlon 900.
It sees my zip drive (internal), i have read access to my zip drive, but everytime i try and write to the zip drive, everything freezes up, and i have to reboot.
I am running win2000, I changed OS to win95, no help!
I replaced the drive with a new one, NEC internal, same problem. I disabled 'Auto' in BIOS "Integrated Peripherals" for the secondary slave IDE port it uses, no help.
I am going to check the VER of the BIOS I am running, maybe an upgrade will help. I'll post on progress.

Try going in the standard setup screen(where you put the hard drive information and where you change the date and stuff) and put NONE for where the ZIP drive is connected. If you check iomega's web site they say disable the bios from seeing your zip and let windows find it.

I've disabled the bios
I've rechecked the jumper, now no jumper, did try middle jumper.
I've just downloaded and installed Iomega's latest software which says it includes drivers and supports win2000, even though my hardware says NEC.

Nothing works so far. Still freezes when I try to write, works fine when I read from it.

Same here. I'm thinking that we might have to wait until VIA comes out with a fix. I've seen many other pro2a's with the same problem.

I don't think it's a VIA issue. I've had my zip drive though 3 motherboards, all based on VIA chipsets, currently using it with my KT7-RAID. The only thing I've had to change is whether or not the BIOS was seeing the zip drive.

Hey, I was just trying to find a bios from aopen, and watched their bios history on the kt133 boards... "Fixed system hang at format process of ZIP device when internal CPU
cache enabled. This happens only to the combination of VIA KT133(VT8363)+VT686B and AMD Duron CPU."

Seems like a via problem to me! and strange thing that aopen fixed this in january (29). And no one else has! So The solution would be to wait for a bios update for your motherboard!

That's what i'm thinking too. I have tried having my bios not detect the drive on startup, but it still freezes up. I added another PCI controller card and ran the zip drive to that, and it works fine. It only freezes if its ran to the mobo.

May as well stop wasting our time. I was recently on Iomega forum. Lots of people with same problem, common thread seems to be via chipset. Someone from a computer shop with same problem, unable to resolve even on a commercial level.
Oh well, at least it wasn't my own ineptness!
