unable to talk on mic for some reason????

I'm not sure what to to think of this , me and a friend have been talking on the mic for awhile now , now she has winXP , and i still have win98se,,,and she had it too ,,,now when we go to talk on the mic it says this,,,,, she doesn't have a sound card or in need of one or something like that''',, any ideas? tyia

make sure that the right drivers for XP are loaded. If its a Creative Labs card, you might have some problems cuz Creative is horrible with XP support. I'm probably guessing that it loaded generic drivers and doesn't know how to use input port on the card.
