i spanned my windows 2000 installation over 8 cd's on norton ghost that came with systemworks 2001. i used compression and enabled disk spanning. i wanted to make sure that the backup to my cdrs worked, so i tried restoring from ghost my windows 2000 disk image onto another hard drive. when i started the restoration from dos, i get to the 2nd cd and ghost says that the image is corrupt and that i need to run a program to verify the integrity of the disk image. i did that, and the program says that it's fine, so anybody have any ideas? should i not enable compression?

The guy who runs this site might be able to help you, cuz he writes images to CDs all the time. But if you ran the integrity check, and it checked out okay, it shouldn't say the image is corrupt, unless your feeding it the wrong disc (mis-numbered/labeled CD?).

ok, i reimaged my hard drive to 10 more cdr's without any compression and i get the same damn error. the thing is it always happens on the second cd, the first restores fine. then when i exited ghost, i got a processor exception. below is my ghosterr.txt file for the errors encountered. when i tried making an image for the third damn time, this time to my second hard drive, ghost doesn't allow me to select it, only the cdr or the floppy. what gives??? i've noticed 2 other posts that have similar problems as i do, and we were all using win2k with ntfs drives. this is so frustrating.

thanks, that explains why i'm not able to create an image onto my second hard drive since it's fat32. i'll convert it and then create images of the os drive onto the second hard disk. then i'll verify the images of the os disk. at least this will save me more time than burning to cdrs and finding out that later they don't work. but that still doesn't explain why ghost won't make a proper image, and why other people are having similar luck on this forum.
