I'm trying to see if my vidcard can OC through Coolbits, and it's not able to. When I try to detect optimal frequencies it just stays at stock. If I try to adjust it manually I won't OC at all, it'll just failt. Does Coolbits not support the 7900, or is something wrong with my card?

What is the brand of your 7900gt? Is it factory OC'ed? If it is, there's not much headroom left for OCing

What brand is your 7900GT? Like fliguy84 said, if it's factory oc'ed then it won't go up much. also, what are your idle and load temps?

Does the coolbits test check for stability or teperatures? I'm about to install my VF700 in a couple hours and I still don't know if I was voltage lilited or coolbits didn't like my temps.

coolbits is affected by temperatures.
But if you own a factory overclocked card... you wont be able to squeeze anything else out of it most of the time.

So like everyone else here has said... What brand/model is your card?

Did you upgrade to the latest version of your drivers? try using the latest version of overclocking software (rivatuner, NVHardpage) and see if those work.

i use powerstrip to OC it and ATItool to check for arts. fvck coolbits and rivatuner and their "automatic detection" i dont trust that for one second. good ol powerstrip lets me overclock with no limits and ATItool will SHOW me the arts if there are any. the only way to OC :) for instance used coolbits to OC my old pcx5750 that i volt modded and stuck a copper Athlon XP heatsink on as well as active cooling for all RAM. coolbits said it wasnt stable at 500/600 (425/500 stock) which is an OC i could easily do with the STOCK heatsink. tried powerstrip and OC'ed it to 700/800 easily and used ATItool to scan for arts. no arts whatsoever and worked beautifully. never been back to coolbits since.

You can use rivatuner to overclock, you just need to force VGA ID of 92 in the power user tab. It works great, though it seems overclocking the GTs in general is a little troublesome. By that I mean sometimes I'll need to change the Lower Power 3D and 2D speeds to match 3D speeds in order for an overclock to actually have an effect. It's weird.

my vidcard is eVGA branded, the default speed is 500/750. I'm not sure what a stock GT is. Reguardless of not having much overhead, I can't even OC it 5mhz through Coolbits. :/
