Hi everyone:
I am running 2 IBM 36 LZX scsi drives, 1 as main drive, and the 2nd as a mirror drive: once a week I used to just plug in the second drive and run Drive Image Pro to clone my main drive. I like the security of being able to switch cables and be up and running in 2 minutes if I encounter a problem.
I recently upgraded to 2KPro. Not perfect, but certainly better than Win98
.
I tried to clone my drive last night: when booting from Dos, the proggy starts, but hangs after displaying "analyzing disks- this may take a minute". It'll hang there all day.
I picked up a copy of Norton Ghost personal edition at a comp show this weekend, and decided to try it out today. It loads fine, but displays: "unable to verify liscense: if you are upgrading , please insert disc and try again". I have, and the disc is not recognized. Also, when installing the software in 2K, I was never asked for a reg. number, or serial #. I cannot get Ghost to run.
To add to the confusion, I have a Windows based clone program called Drive2Drive ( won't work in 2K), however I still have my old Win98 partition on a 3rd drive, so I hooked up all 3 drives. They were all recognized by my Adaptec 39160 fine, and showed on Win 98 "my computer" as well. Booted Drive2 drive- started to clone from one drivve to the other- kept intermittently hanging up, and took longer than usual. When finished, Win 98 BSOD'd me. Shut down, and booted up the cloned copy of 2K: filechecker found tons of unreadable files. Booted up the original 2K drive, same problem- not as bad.
WTF am I missing??? I have 3 clone programs, and I can't get 1 to run???
