160GB to my external drive. ESATA and it just times out or craps out. Using Active Dick Imaging software. Also does same thing with Easus software. Guess I will try Acronis (bloated, but usually works after wading thru the myriad of crappy features).

Does anyone else have this issue? I never had it before. But then again, I just got this particular drive, which, except for this, I like alot.

I see your problem already. Don't use any software that is named Dick, especially Active Dick. Hehehe. I don't know, maybe something wrong with your ESATA port? Try Macrium Reflect Free, it's what I use for my systems, as well as my X25M Intel.

The only time I ran into such a problem was 7 years ago. If the drive you're backing up to is formatted FAT32 then it can only accept files up to 4GB in size. I'm pretty sure backup software these days is smart enough to recognize this and create less than 4GB chunks, but you never know.

All true :) Thanks for your input. I am using a different drive and it works fine. Will format the problem drive in its current enclosure and see if that helps.
