UNABLE to boot

I have a strange problem. One of my pc's was working fine yesterday until I had a crash. Upon rebooting the computer everything failed to boot. I would get the windows logo, but it would lockup immediately. Safe mode and every other option I've tried wouldn't get it to start.

The floppy drive wouldn't even boot whatever disk I threw at it (windows 98 oem startup disk).

I took out the hdd and popped it into my computer, partioned and formated fresh. Popped it back into the other computer, and also the WinXP CD. Booted up and then I got a lockup at the end screen where it says "Setup is starting windows". I've tried everything I can think off. Removing all drives and only leaving the floppy connected, and still no go.

I'm going crazy just trying to get it working again. Can anyone suggest anything? Help is appreciated.

I remember experiencing the same exact problem but don't remember what I did to correct it. Anyways, I'll start from the beginning by dismounting the mobo from the case, clear the cmos and running it on top of a cardboard with just the floppy connected. If it boots from the floppy add the HDD and see if it'll detect the hdd. Then add the CD-Rom and install XP. If it works, then transfer everything back to the case. If it fails with just the floppy, RMA the mobo. Or you can try another floppy drive and cable that you know works. Goodluck. 😎
