Unable to access storage Nexus 7

I can connect my Nexus 7 to my PC, windows 10 but I can't see any files. I can see the Nexus 7 listed as a device but when I click it, nothing shows up. I can't see any files or storage when I click the nexus 7 from windows 10.

I did recently update my nexus 7 and to windows 10 about two weeks ago. I know that was the cause but what the updates did exactly, I have no idea.

In Android 6.0 Marshmallow you have to manually enable USB transfers from the tablet: swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the USB connection notification. I don't remember the exact wording but it should be self-explanatory from that point.

I have no idea why Google made this change and since I still have some Lollipop devices, I often forget and curse Google when I remember. 😀
