After getting a Motorola Q running Windows Mobile 5, I am slowly learning some neat things to do on it. Some productive, some just fun.
This could be a resource for the the Moto Q, Samsung BlackJack, and other Windows Mobile devices.

Note for newbs like me looking into WM devices: Original Moto Q is on version 5. New ones, 9m, 9h, and 9c are on version 6. Verizon, ATT, and Sprint, respectively.
Samsung Blackjack is on version 5, and BlackJack II is on version 6.

Maps:
Google Maps Mobile. Finally a program that is faster then hitting it via web on mobile IE.

Worth the download. Browse to the download and have it installed via ActiveSync. Or have it sent using your phone number

Windows Live Search.
Believe me or not. This is better than Google Maps. That's right. A MS product worth it's weight in gold, and it's free!
On your mobile device, browse to the MSN mobile website on IE, search with the keywords "Windows Live", the first result is "Live Search, Download Interactive Maps." Select this, and go through the steps. Note it's slick interface. Business searches and directions are easy and intuitive.

Themes: Fun things to do with your homescreen. Free, with donation optional.
Easy txt based instructions with each zip file. It's a matter of a drag and drop.

Productivity:
If you have Office Notes 2007 (part of most Office 2007 installs) on your computer that you sync with, it might prompt to download the mobile version to your device. Say Hell Yes!
On my Q, it doesn't come with a notes program. I have a trial one, but it isn't great at all.
This met my needs. You can save notes, and sync them, you can also highlight text to underline, bold and throw bullets in there. Really slick.

Interface:
Dial pad: For touch screen based devices.

Helpful links.
Howard Forums: Extensive and vast. The authority on all mobile devices. Be prepared to do some long sessions of reading. Site organized by manufacturer, or for specifics, carrier then manufacturer.

I'll check on this regularly to update the OP with additions of my own and what others will chime in with.
If this is useful enough, I'll plead with the mods to pin it.

There is a thread going in several forums about installing Java emulators on WM from IBM. This will enable Opera mini 4 to be ran on your WM device. I will do my best to compile the info and links in the next few days.

I don't have a WM phone right now (osx > WM :)), but first thing I do everytime I got a WM phone is change the dial pad from this site. There's some cool themes there too.

xda-developers is a great place for custom software and roms. THey might not have every phone but they have awesome programmers on the forums and can figure just about anything out. Its more geard towards HTC with support for some other popular phones.

yahoo go is a GREAT ap.

qusers.com and everythingq.com are about the best Q resources there are. On those forums there plenty of WM hacks, which you could use on any WM phone.
