Wifey has a certification class in downtown Chicago this weekend. Looked up on hotels.com, expedia, AAA, individual hotel sites, ect. You couldn't find a decent hotel within 10 miles of Downtown for under $100. Once you actually got onto Michigan Ave you were looking at like $350 night.

Went over to Hotwire, saw the listing for $159 a night and rolled the dice.

Would up with a room at the Westin near the Water Tower Place for $184 after taxes.

If I had booked that room through Westin direct it would have been almost $400.

I've booked quite a few weekend getaways contingent on getting a Priceline deal within my budget.
 
I just booked 2 nights at Caesar's Palace for ~$400 when Orbitz and other sites were charging like $900+.
 
I will never spend alot on a hotel, it is nothing more than a place to sleep where ever I may be. I try not to spend more than 40-50 ever.

We'll be getting in sometime after 6:00 on Friday night. Will likey head straight for the hotel.

We're game for something Friday night if Downtown works for people. We won't stay out *real* late. She has to sign in for the test by 8:00 on Saturday.

Chicago isn't Arkansas. The only way you are going to find something that cheap is way way way outside the downtown area or in places that I'd fear for my life or safety of my vehicle.

I could easily be looking at an hour drive through traffic getting from a cheaper hotel to our downtown spot. Sometimes convenience easily trumps costs.
 
I don't know sh!t about Chicago. Is there anything near Northwestern University (close to where we are staying) that would be remotely friendly to a woman who's 5 months pregnant?
 
Dude, Northwestern/Evanston may seem close to Water Tower Place, but that's at least a 45-60 minute drive on any given weekday rush hour. All you can do is take Lakeshore Dr. North and it's a PITA at that time.
 
I think she is going to Northwestern's med school for this which is in the Gold Coast/Streeterville and near their hotel.
 
Yeah, I about to ask if it was the Evanston or Chicago campus. Since it's most likely the latter, is that area near things like downtown/original locations of Gino's East/Lou Malnati's/etc.?

Heh...it's pretty much near everything (or within a couple block walk of it)
