(New York-AP May 30, 2003 2:25 PM) _ A New York judge has ruled in favor of a Connecticut company in a continuing battle with the Procter and Gamble Company.
The judge has barred P& G from claiming that its new tampon product is superior to a rival Playtex tampon.
Playtex is based in Westport, Connecticut.
The ruling now forces the giant consumer products company to recall its advertising and display campaign.
The new order follows a jury verdict last week that awarded Two-point-nine-six million dollars in damages to Playtex.
The Westport company had accused Cincinnati-based P& G of falsely claiming that its product, Tampax Pearl, provided superior comfort, protection and absorbency over the Playtex Gentle Glide tampon.
