Ok Im sitting here surfing away and burning some stuff to clear up the drive and exploror starts freaking out, followed by a click, click, click, click. Very random but continues to freak. I had just deleted some old software and thought something got fubared so I reboot and BOOM! I get a boot error and the system asked for the system disk

Has my trusty 13.5 IBM finally died, This was the first drive I bought back from when I built my first system and has lasted through at least a dozen upgrades, 4 case transfers, and multiple trips to Lan parties

Say it isn't so, but the clicking didn't sound to good:(

What is in your system? OS?
My Quantum Fireball is dying after only 2 years of service. What a bummer!
Hope yours not ;)

Download IBMs DFT (drive fitness test) to find out - if you don't know where to get it from do a search for 'IBM' and you'll find about a million posts which contain the link.

Good luck but if its clickin' I'd say its a gonna!

Damn !
My Western Digital 10.2 gig 7200 rpm just did the same thing.
Is there any way to retireve the data without spending a fortune ?
I had to stick a 5400 rpm 4.3 gig HD just to get posting again :(
