TMobile currently allows UMA calling on the TMobile specific BB's

The specs are pretty lame (600mhz cpu), however, if the code can be lifted, there might be UMA for everyone (on TMobile?) willing to flash their rom. I'm not familiar enough with UMA to know if it would work with another carrier, I suspect not...

600mhz can be oc'ed nicely with rooting + setcpu, hell my Droid 1 is 700 stock? and I'm running it at 1.1 and it's faster than my GF's Droid 2 :)

UMA is essentially IP calling, so it would have to be supported by your carrier and configured on the device to support it. i.e., you can't UMA call with a carrier that doesn't have a UMA offering.

EDIT: as for allowing UMA just by flashing a ROM, I think it's a little more clever about it than that and will check you are allowed to use UMA with your plan/phone combo, but I could be wrong.

UMA is free on TMobile BB's, perhaps they'll do the same thing with UMA on Android.

They had a press release showing UMA on the Moto Charm, but didn't include it in the released phone.

They have a Nokia with UMA as well. The E73.

Cool stuff. UMA is available in the UK on Tmo and Orange (who are merging here...) but it's not really a big deal as 98% coverage is the norm for most carriers apart from "3".

TMobile is fighting for an edge up on the other carriers, DT keeps rumbling about how it's not profitable
