I just started working for this company just this monday. (12th)

I got a check in the mail Yesterday with the full 40 hour amount. WTF? Wouldn't it at least take one full week to process things?

I'm confused now, should I call the payroll? Or just let it sit in my account Quietly then return when they find the 'glitch'?
 
If you're employed through a temp agency, they commonly estimate hours and pay you for the current week. I've worked for tons of temp agencies before I finished college.

Let it sit in your account and see how it goes the next couple weeks.
 
If you want to look like a good new worker, inform the payroll of this problem. Maybe it's a free bonus?!

Not temp. A real full-blown entry levle job after graduating from college. I AM non-exempt though, meaning they pay by hours.

 
they could sue you for the money later / fire you if you don't bring it up with payroll.

if you want to stay here, and keep your rep clean; talk to payroll. losing your job isn't worth it.
 
Do your self a favor and don't touch it, and don't tell anyone. Next month, if they still haven't noticed, keep it.

Ask your supervisor what to do. Depending upon how your company is structured, you want someone who can do something for you actually know about your honesty.
 
i used to work in Payroll and some companies do that. if your paperwork was sent in ahead of time, chance is that you might get paid at the end of your first week. it seems like you're entitled to it, but i would just call payroll/hr to double check. we used to get a lot of calls like that
 
if you weren't expecting the money, then you don't need it.. call payroll and ask them.. either they'll take it away and you lose somethign that wasn't yours, or they say it's yours, and in that case, you have extra money you weren't expecting.. like finding $20 in your pants pocket
 
Many companies used to "hold" your first paycheck. In that case you would recieve a check a pay period after you retire.

In this case my guess is you would get your last pay on the day you walk out the door.
 
thats payment for other services rendered...to the boss.....behind close doors....with your kneepads on...

dont act like you dont know what im talking 'bout willis.....just be glad you got paid for doing it 😛

definitely say something to someone that matters in the company. it will go a long way toward your acquired points for honesty, plus it is the ethical thing to do. dont be an a$$hole and keep it.
 
Check with your HR department. The accounting firm I worked for this summer paid us 3 days before the official period end date, it was kind of nice to get it a few days early (since we were all salaried anyway).

Bob Slydell: Well just a second there, professor. We uh, we fixed the *glitch*. So he won't be receiving a paycheck anymore, so it will just work itself out naturally.
Bob Porter: We always like to avoid confrontation, whenever possible. Problem solved from your end.
