It runs until the liquid steams, then shuts off. That way, you don't have to guess how much time to heat various amounts of liquid.

I'm reheating it again, using the beverage feature.

What's that got to do with locking this thread? It's obviously a dangerous science experiment designed to hurt small children and even smaller adolts.

A toothpick also works well to provide a surface for bubbles to form on.
