bought the house on dec 21st. Had gas transferred on the 22nd. The previous owner gave me their latest bill so I could use the acct #'s and do a transfer rather than deal w/ having the gas shutoff and turned back on.

this bill was for $122.45 and the people used 66 ccf @ $1.779.

Out of curiousity I just went and read my meter.
current reading - 10152 (used 253 ccf in a month and a half.)
I pay, I think, $1.45 a therm.

That's about $366. Beautiful. Granted it's a month and a half, but still, I'm looking at a $200 montly bill. WTF.

my old townhouse used a heatpump. I think it was pretty efficient - although my roommate liked it to be a toasty 78. Now it goes no higher than 65, 62-ish at night and 60 when noone is home

No sympathy here either. Your bill looks normal to me. In the summer when we run A/C, we do about $500 per month in electric alone! Winter averages about $375 mo, which is gas water heater, gas heat and gas clothes dryer.

My old place was fuel oil, that ran me about $200 a month, plus electricity for the furnace.

Cry me a river. My December bill was $577 I sh!t you not. And before idiots jump in and say "turn your thermostat down", it never goes above 68, and is usually at 65F. My house is just old and poorly insulated.

Welcome to home membership. That's about righ for my house in the winter too.

My office gas bill was over $600.00 this month. Our office building isn't very large. We have five offices and a kitchen. Every tenet divides up the bills and pays them each month. The only thing that is gas is the heat and it stays turned down. It is turned down much more now.

Well, I honestly can't gripe too much except for the percent increase from last years bill. We went from $40 to $80 and we used less gas than last year. Yeah, it's not big, but doubling the cost sure is quite the surprise.

If you're the slightest bit mechanically inclined, it really has to occur to you to start upgrading😉

My house was built in 1942 and doesn't have an attic (there are rooms where an attic would be). The walls also lack insulation 🙁

bought a townhouse in August...forgot to contact the gas company so they sent a Dear Occupant letter...opps...I called in December and had my acount activated...bill was received in Jan 06..was expecting about $300 or so...came to $69....my favorite number lol( Aug - Jan)

You could live where I live. We don't have a great gas infrastructure here so we mostly use fuel oil... At ~$2.30/gallon. $300 monthly fill ups are routine at my house.

i forgot to pay mine G&E bill last month, so it was $658.00 this month.... I would not care, but the property tax bill came in at the same time and there goes another $1,225.00 going out this months.

🙁

$240 with the thermostat set of 63 and running small electric heater for the bedroom and family room. May switch to all electric this summer as Kentucky (Lexington) has extremely cheap power (vs national average: 4 to 6 cents KWh)

You ain't got nothing on thespeakerbox's bill.

mine was $277 last month and it was only really cold 1 week.

My advice is turn down the t-stat a couple more degrees and wear more clothes.

Now I feel cheap. When I saw a $70/month heating bill (1 bedroom apartment) and I turned down the thermostat.
