hey,

got an old k6II-350, with a shuttle hot591p motherboard. MAN IS MY HARD DRIVE SLOW!! Am planning an upgrade later to athlon based system with dual deskstars (20GB) on raid, but can't afford it right now. Was thinking I'd get one of the drives now, which should speed things up tremendously, since all I seem to do now is wait for my crappy IDE non ata33 drive to read stuff. I know that the MVP3 chipset supports ATA33, but can I put an ata100 drive on it? also if I do, is there any utility that will copy the contents of one drive to another?

cool, thanks.

Yes and yes. Drives are backwards compatable, and you need a utility that either mirrors a drive or copies paritions. Get Maxblast software from Maxtor's Website for the latter. I used Partition Magic to do itl so I'm not up on other utilities and even if maxblast still lets you use it for non-Maxtor hard drives.
