Ultra66 + Windows 2000 driver + Windows 2000 = "Driver doesn't support WIndows2000. WTF?

I'm trying to install my ultra66. I am using the driver available here. It's the UltraFamily driver v1.60 build 19. When I unzip it, it extracts drivers to four directories, one of which is named Windows2000. I go to add the driver and it says that "This driver does not support Windows 2000."

WTF? ANyone help?

point it to the win2k folder, when you get the no sutible driver found message put a checkmark in the select other driver. Use the driver labeled Promise 2000nt

I'm not getting a "no suitable driver found." I'm actually trying to install it, but after Win2K tries to, it drops me back with the "Windows 2000 Not Supported" error message, and the only option I have is "finish."

Do you think I should install an NT driver?

NO the beta driver you downloaded will work with the Ultra 66 but is scripted for the ultra 100 so win2k wont reconize it as a suitable driver for the Ultra 66. to force windows to use the beta driver select show list of suitable then select have disk and point it to the win2k folder. You will get a error message saying it may not work with the selected hardware blaw blaw blaw, do you want to continue installation YES after reboot the ultra will be shown as a Ultra 100. The driver is compatible with the 66 and offers a litle increase in performance than the 66 driver.

Thanks!

The driver installed fine as an Ultra100 for Windows 2000. And you're sure this works?

Thanks!

Yes I have been running it since its release last summer, now bench your drives with HD tach and you will se the increase in performance.

Actually my HD was stuck on the same chain as a zip drive and stuck in PIO mode 4. That's, read it, 16.6 MB/s and high CPU utilization to boot.

Now I just moved the hard drive off and it's working good. Thx.
