Have an X-Connect in my system. Read messages about quality control, I've always loved mine though. I know Ultra switched who they have make their PSU's for the new X2/N-Finifty lines. My question is, they've been out awhile now so whats the word on how they hold up. Haven't seen a bad review of the N-Finity, but reviewers only use the unit for a short period of time.

The early units were problematic, iirc. The later units are OK. A little too much bling for me
but I'm not embarrassed diving an old PU truck. So if you want/need bling, they got it.

They have a non-bling 800W unit in the works that should cause a stir in the press.
Supposed to be a real good'en.

The black model isn't too blingy, no LED's not even too shinny. The selling point for my old X-Connect was the cables, I still marvel at them everytime I look in my case. Weird how so many other companies have modular PSU's out, but nobody has even come close to touching the professional look of the Ultra cables. The new Flex Force ones look even better. I've narrowed my choice down to either the X-Finity of the Coolermaster iGreen for my new PSU.

I bought an X-finity and it had a faulty fan. Check the Ultra forums and you'll see lots of problems with the fans failing or becoming increasingly loud. The support guy admitted that there a lot of problems with the fans because (according to him) they're not packaged very well and the fans become loose or damaged during shipping.

I sent mine back for a refund.

I know someone who got a 500w xfinity and said it was very loud. He did say that it was holding up nicely in his gaming rig though...

hmm X-Finity loud?? IMPOSSIBLE.. a bad fan perhaps.. I bought this and tested it for a couple of days before approving and setting it aside for my upcoming build.. I think the fan is SUPER QUIET.. which means doesn't move any air.. so you must have good case cooling.. don't rely on the PS to move air around.. the fan is weak and therefore quiet.

The PS has had reviews and if jonnyguru approves it.. i'm fine with it .. several reviewers stress tested it for some days too so they are not just plug and play for a few hours reviews either..

i can attest to damaged fans. my psu just came in and i noticed that the fan grill was bent inward a bit, thus preventing the fan from moving. i managed to lift the grill up a bit so that the fan can move. i havent powered on the psu yet since it is for a new system, but hopefully there shouldnt be a problem.

does this effect the newer models with the single 120mm? I was going to order one and noticed a few places had ones with 2x80mm fans.

Only the 600 watt and above have the 2 80mm fans. Also as a past owner of the X-Connect, I will never feel the same about their power supplies again. They sem to be very flashy, and the build quality is pretty good, but for the price that you pay for the X-Finity, I'd reccommend a different power supply. GalvinizedYankee knows more about great power supplies, so PM him.
