I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these

However, I can't figure out if the green one comes w/ blue UV reactive cables or green ones. It seems silly that they would bundle blue cables, but that is what it looks like and I'm not willing to shell out the rediculous amount of money they are asking for for replacement cables.

nah, Ultra X actually makes some pretty Uber PSU's, despite the horribly cliche name. 😛
 
actually, ultra-x psu's are really crappy. it got hte worst rating of any cpu in the current maximumPC issue.
 
^^^exactly, i was about ot mention that, if you are looking for a good modular psu, get a antec neopower.

Why don't you take a look on the net for all the positive reviews instead of maximumPC, whom I do not trust more than a reliable website such as Anandtech or another large reviewer anyway...
 
These are all positive reviews of the X-connect power supply. (just FYI I have one too and it's great)

They were all found by googling "Ultra X-connect review", I did not see any bad reviews within these first few Iooked at, I did not skip any negative reviews because there weren't any.

from all the pics i've seen it comes with silver cables.

I think they all do... my titanium came with silver cables, in UV are basically white.
 
ULTRA is merely a re-brander. They DO NOT manufacture ANY of there own products.

Yes they DO use powmax parts if not entire psu's.

I would not buy any ULTRA product.

If you have one and its working, GREAT!!

Lots of folks have cheese generic psu's working fine. It doesn't mean its adviseable especially at the pricepoint.

And as far as reviews go... I think everyone knows how reliable they are.

I know everything about them cause I've owned one for the past few months, it's the most stable PSU I've owned, and it is infact, reliable apparently because nothing has gone wrong or let me down yet...

I dunno what to say about the whole Powmax thing, I have read numerous times that the power supply is NOT made by PowMax, but I don't know how to find actual proof... anyways with all the positive reviews (even from me, a user) people can still say it's garbage without ever having used one, makes me mad.

There are several posts on this board from users who had the these PSU's and they crapped out on them quickly. One had a ball bearing fall out when he took it out of the packaging and another ost CPU and Mobo to one (his claim). Not to say they are junk, but there are plenty of people who haved used them and had problems. I had them linked but the damn Jserver errors popped up and I don't feel like doing it again. A search will bring them up.

it wasn't a ball bearing. it was a solder ball.
