Sounded good, but the rebate form says it must be purchased between JULY 22 and JULY 31. Not the August dates shown in the ad

Heh. I was planning my AMD64 system and knew that my current PSU wouldn't keep things stable. Thank you, HD!

[edit] Good catch, Penalty. I've emailed their customer service folks- I'll post when I get a reply.

Your right. The website says $40.00 Mail in Rebate valid from 2005-08-01 to 2005-08-31 but the PDF is July 31st.

They will have to update the site or directly honor the rebate/refunds.

That rebate ended 7/31, too. Fry's still show the item w/ the $40 rebarte and their rebate still shows that it ended last month. AND, this is a "this week only" special

I've ordered. Updates will follow as situations warrant :)

Don't go spreading rumors about me, or you'll ruin my reputation!

Keep in mind that these PSUs have a 3-year warranty by default, but LIFETIME if you register online within 30 days of purchase (www.ultraproducts.com).

Anyone considering about power requirements...one of these has run a P4 at nearly 4.2GHz with a 6800GT PCI-E card and 3 hard drives for nearly half a year with no problems.

i've been watching this one every day since July 31 hoping that they would update the PDF form, but they haven't. i called them a few days later and was told that the PDF form needed to be updated and that the appropriate department has been notified about it. i e-mailed them a few days later, but never got a reply.

seems to be an issue they're ignoring.

i haven't ordered it because i don't want to risk paying full price.

PSU arrived- man, Outpost is quick!

I've sent in the rebate red tape and have the PSU installed in my current system (which, admittedly, isn't putting much strain on the new PSU, but it's a test of sorts). So far, so good. Thank you OP.

You may have gotten a bad Ultra PS or your DFI could be "touchy" just like DFI's Ultra-D apparently is for many peeps.

There was most likely nothing wrong with the ultra PSU you were trying to use... you were trying to use a 500watt 20pin Ultra power supply on a computer that needs a 24pin PCI-E ready PSU.

You are definatly not going to beable to run a or even possibly boot your system with a x800xl without PCX power.... That was your fault, not Ultra's.
----------------------------------------

And i could be wrong, but i dont think that $40 onRebate posted would work... it doesnt specifiy whitch PSU it applyes to yet.... If you look at all the otherones posted on onRebate.com you'l see that it has a product model list of the PSU's that it apply's to..... this $40 one only says "Select Powersupplys"..... I have a feeling it might not apply... but there is a valid $30 one on there site witch specificly applyes to the 500watt

Actually, I've read that the X800XL does not draw a lot of power from the ps and therefore would likely work with a 20-pin ATX PS and native 24-pin ATX mobo. I think most people do NOT have a problem running 20-pin PS with 24-pin mobos as long they do not run SLI.

Also, I've only heard of DFI officially stating that they "require" a native 24-pin PS with their nForce 4 mobos.

I will be putting all this to the test though in next couple of months since I have a new Ultra 500 watt PS with 20-pin ATX and will buy a 24-pin mobo and a high end PCI-E video card. Not sure which card though (looking for a really good price still).

Another $10 rebate to make the price $15 AR's. However, the links on the Outpost site still has the July rebate. I guess I'll have to head over to Fry's to check it out...

Edit: found the rebates on the same site as the OP listed
$40 rebate
Extra $10 rebate
However, both say "Photocopies of UPCs are not accepted". I wonder if it comes with 2 UPCs.

Anybody have a scan of the UPC? I forgot to make a copy of mine before I mailed out my rebate. Please PM me the scan if you can. Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance, but is there a difference between this ATX Modular Power Supply and a regular UPS used for a home PC?

In other words, would this work well as a UPS for, say, a Dell 9100 system my sister is ordering? Or for connecting some of my home entertainment components to (like my DISH receiver and a VCR, for example)?

Please go easy on me, like I said, obviously not too knowledgable about power supplies.

No, you don't want this. This is completely different than a UPS. This goes inside your PC and provides power to the PC components.
