Why hasn't anyone ever invented a noise-cancelling system for computer noise?

Elaborate?

I assume you've seen the ads for the Bose noise-cancelling headphones. Well, those and similar devices work by a principle that's been known for a very long time now: that two opposing waves cancel each other out. For a normal sine wave, this can be achieved by phase-shifting the original waveform; the resulting waveform has peaks where the original has troughs and vice versa, and when the two waves overlay one another, a straight line is the result.

Essentially, these Bose headphones sense noise from the environment outside the headphones, construct an equal-but-opposite waveform on the fly, and insert it into whatever's being sent into the user's eardrums. The result is the music etc., but with the environmental noise cancelled out. The effect is not absolutely perfect, but it's far better than nothing.

At least one late-model luxury car has a system like this to dampen engine noise, and it's even been proposed for jetliners flying over residential areas.

go to silentpcreview.com they have new reviews on the seasonics, which run on 120s. i think that'd be a good choice. oh yeah - i have the cooler master centurion [same type of case] if you manage to switch out all of your 80s for some panaflos, that might help too. b/c my four coolermasters make a heck of a lot of noise.

Yeah I already took out the default fans, put a stealth on the HS [Definatly defective, but shipping would be more than buying a new one, it moves enough air for now]

3 Artic cooling fans that were supposed to run at 14~ db [They dont spin on low or medium, so instead they run at ~28db

The seasonic SS is looking pretty good.
Stealth? As in Vantec? If so, they are lousy fans. Very loud. No better than the crap fans that ship with whiteboxes.
