Ultra Microfly case w/400W $50/60AR

Ultra Microfly case and 400W V series PSU
These cases are basically the same as the Chenming/Aspire X-Qpack, but they're a hair deeper so easier to fit with a standard PSU. Indeed the 400W V series PSU it includes is a standard size with 120mm fan. I'd say this is a nice deal especially since the PSU runs circles around the ones included with the other brands.

Outpost.com $90 - $30MIR = $60 + shipping
Fry's (Chicago ad) $80 - $30MIR = $50 + 8.25% tax

EDIT:

ZipZoomFly

$80 - $30MIR = $50, Free shipping too!!!
This comes with the 400W PSU, but does not have the case windows.

Just FYI, TigerDirect had these for $59.99 + shipping with no rebate not-so long ago, and also sells two-packs at a sometimes reduced rate.

The one from Tiger doesn't come with a power supply. The one at Fry's does, according to the OP. Outpost's description says it "is available with an optional, Ultra V-Series 400W power supply," but then in the detailed description it gives some basic info about the V-Series PSU. It's rather confusing.

ZZF has the version with the 400W PSU and a is $79.99 shipped, plus a $30 rebate that is good until 10/03. Only difference from OP's is this has no side window. The side window version doesn't seem to have the rebate.

Outpost's deal is indeed confusing. I want to buy this, and the PSU should befine for my meager hardware, but I'm not pulling the trigger until its confirmed that Outpost does indeed include the PSU. ZZF is an option, but I really was hoping for the windowed model (dunno why, as there's not much to show off, but I can dream, can't I?)

Why not pick up the same PSU for FAR just in case it doesn't come with one?

Outpost: 400W Ultra V series $25 free shipping, $25 MIR

Also, the Fry's newspaper ad stated it came with the PSU. YMMV - I do not know for sure that the one from Outpost comes with PSU, but get the free one "just in case." 😉

Thanks. TigerDirect w/o rebate? LOL. I gave up ordering from them a while back - not because of rebate, but because of issues with my account - couldn't log in and their password retrieval would not email me anything.

Damnit, not only am I considering buying a Geforce 7900GTO, now I'm considering picking up one of the 2-packs of these Microfly (got plenty of PSUs).

Hey, did anyone have hand-on experience with this case? I'm considering it, cause it looks like a real space saver (I've started to run out of desk (yeah, right, dEsk, not dIsk) space recently). Is it a quality product? Or does it look and feel as cheap as most Ultra products (so far)?

I was fortunate enough to get the black Microfly w/ PSU through CC for $35 after rebate & coupon just a month ago.

The standard ATX PSU while a little bit on the loud side, was definately worth it. After having an Antec Aria proprietary PSU die on me after only two weeks - the ability to swap in a new PSU is very important.

The case itself looks great and was much easier to work with than the Antec. The outside is a little flimsy, but not overly so. The only difficulty was some of the holes for the DVD burner did not match.

For reference, I put in a NFORCE-4 Gigabyte m-ATX board, Athlon 64 3500+, ATI x800 Pro, 160GB Segate HD, and 2 GB RAM. Stays cool and relatively quiet.

While others have complained about the accuracy of the thermostat, it has been consistently close for me.

Overall, I was very pleased with the purchase and well worth the money.

Your Aria has a 3 yr. warranty so just send it back. Having used this case and the Aria, I agree that it's easier to work in - mostly because it's bigger. It seems flimsy to me, but with the gear installed inside it is sturdy enough.

hey, for the temp readers, im actually not sure where to put it on the motherboard and cpu? How do you do it? do you solder it on or somethin?

Are you serious? Soldering it, OMG!

It comes with a little thin piece of tape for attaching. However this proved ineffective with the Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu CPU cooler. I had to borrow tape from my fan controller (Hardcano 13) to make the sensor stick properly. I taped it right to the heatsink, just below center of the fan. Just make sure not to put the tape on the sensor itself.

Wherever you want! E.g.: wire-tie one so its sensor hangs in mid-air for general internal case temp; or use a -tiny- foam block to press one between two HD's, measuring one HD's surface temp (or try a tiny strip of duct tape); or use that tiny foam block to hold it between CPU or GPU heat-sink fins to read the fin temps; or sneak one out the front of the case to give room temp!

Just get used to what they read and become inquisitive/concerned if temps drift higher than the norms you've seen.

Your CPU and GPU either have their own internal sensors or they don't; you ain't gonna learn those important values from an external sensor, but there are programs that display the internal sensor temps -- sometimes they are even correct! 🙂

Well said - this is the best reason to have the temp display on the front of the case. It helps draw your attention to fan failure, blocked circulation, chipset overheating, etc.

The best part of this case's display is that it remained consistent.

Bump for the extended rebate on this deal. I missed out ordering before going on vacation and came back to find it was extended another 20 days. I won't miss it this time !! Planning on using the included PSU for a modest SFF build. Can anyone confirm that the PSU has shorter cable runs than a typical PSU ? Thats the only negative to adding a better PSU that I see ... more cable clutter to worry about.
