ultra 120 extreme heatsink or coolit freezone for qx6700 2.66ghz? price/performance ratio, which is best? To be more accurate which would COOL BETTER to achieve 3.2ghz-3.4ghz overclock 24/7 100% stable, with slight increase in stock voltage of cpu (maybe a bit more than 3.4ghz). Note: i am not lapping the ultra 120 extreme or cpu, and price of ultra 120 extreme is around 80-90$ including fan, and coolit freezone is 289-300$.

ultra120 extreme lapped would do it, $137 shipped at SVC.com. Don't need to lap the CPU. I am running 3420 easy, 55-58c full load 24/7 for weeks now..136 vcore (on a DQ6, no vdroop)

so basically all i need for lapping is some good quality sand paper? 1500mg or something, whatever the hell that means. right? and then grind that heatsink on it, easy right? nvm i found guides to this. annoying long process.....

well annoying or not, you do not have to do this every single day ya know, and it is definitely worth it, especially when you want to do some serious overclocking.
But you can buy them pre-lapped from online stores such as svc.com or crapzypc.com and the only thing you are left lapping (that is if you want to void your warranty) is your processor, which is a very easy thing to do.

John, the Ultra120 Extreme cools considerably better than the Coolit Freezone. The Coolit has a 50 watt Peltier, and a decent heatsink, but it's really only enough for a dual-core. For quads, the Ultra120 Extreme does way better. There's a guy around here that was saying that his QX6850 @ 3.6 Ghz was hitting over 80C, running Orthos small FFT's, with his Coolit. The only real problem with the Ultra120's is that almost all of them seem to need to be lapped.
