Ultimately, is the Alpha 6035 better than the FOP38?

MSI's motherboard monitor shows that my CPU is 30 C. idle and 34 C. full load with my FOP38.. How much better would an Alpha be? Is there really that much difference?

The Alpha 6035 heatsink is better than the FOP38, but the 38CFM Delta fan on the FOP38 is much better than the mid 20CFM YSTech/Sunon fans on the Alpha. I'm sure if you put the Delta fan on the Alpha, it'd out perform it. In the end though, there isn't much of a difference to justify paying $35 for a few C. :)

Not much, if any, especially consider that socket A mbs tend to compress temp changes by a factor of at least 2, sometimes 3.

If you use an alpha with a delta 38cfm fan, it may peform the same as a fop-38. if you drop the fan on both, the alpha is the better choice.

You can call it whatever you want, moron. If you are so inclined to believe it as accurate, like i've said before, go ahead. For the people who care(and most people should), it is highly inaccurate.

Every setup will run different. It would be impossible to compare my setup with yours.

? Air temp is different in my room compared to yours.
? Placement of the probe is different (even on like boards it could be resting on the cpu different)
? One person has an Abit, one has an Asus one has an MSI, all will read different.
? Heatsink is mounted not as flat on one than the other.
? Some CPUs genertate more heat than others etc. etc. etc.
You would have to perform the same test on the same machine with the same room temp and the same load in order do get something close. And the temp probe would still not give you an accurate temp. You are just using it as a guage of higher or lower. I personally have an Alpha PAL6035 on an Abit KT7 with a duct to an 80mm 40cfm fan. This is the best I have been able to do on air cooling by far. Better than the FOP38 on my board.
