There is a two (2) MAJOR flaws to your strategy: 1) Office Max and 2) REBATES! Rebates for items purchased at OM are definitely YMMV! My latest hassle is two rebates from Thanksgiving (for the Cendyne DVD-ROM) that have as yet NOT be paid. My experience with OM rebates is that at least 50% require major work to get, if you get them at all. that is why I recommend you walk, no run away from any OM rebate deals, that is until they clean up their act. Just my 2 cents ....

I'm right with you, dud. One time in my life I decided not to make copies and send my rebate submission certified...and voila - they claim I didn't include the UPC code.

F***** thieves. I hope there's a special place in hell where all the Ferengii from Hot Deals and the snakes from the rebate companies can get together and rip each other off for eternity.

YUP! Liars too! Happened to me too! Those frequent rebate rejections are *NOT* mistakes, they are intentional ripoffs.

I agree with the last two post. Avoid OMX rebates. Otherwise plan on calling the rebate center several times, and even then you probably won't see anything until mid-summer or later.

Can't speak to all of those, and I can't speak to generalizations. But I do know that I got ripped off by the company that handles rebates for the cd burner I bought at Office Max.

Since I haven't given them a chance to make it right locally, even though I suspect it's a waste of time to try, I can't blame Office Max directly.

Rio,

Join the club man. You know, it's down right fvcken criminal. Don't read further if you're sensetive........

...but, these stupid c0cksuckers know exactly wtf they're doing. Assfvcks from staples/Cendeyne that decided to bend my ass over to rob me of 50 bones can go to hell. ON n the real though, this has been going on for too long. It's ridiculous in that they "claim" that it was lost in the mail. What a crock of sh1t. I have sent hundreds of letters in my lifetime and have likewise receieve that much x 10 and not a single one has been "lost in the mail". What I find baffling over in FW is that a few people had their ish "lost in the mail". Now let's be real. You know a lot of people don't voice their opinion and just chock that up to fate so a whole helluva a lot more fools have had their their cheddar lost in the mail and don't speak up. Those f'en scumbag rebate monkeys piss the hell outta me. This is the 3rd that this stunt has been pulled on me...wadda bunch of sh1t.

Ok, I needed to vent. Seriously, stupid ass rebates are really starting to piss me off :frown:

I sent 4 staples rebates in @ the same time to the same place, and 2 were ok, but the other 2 were no UPC, and they were all the same thing. I called and said "WTF", and they said they're issuing checks. Wasn't too much hassle, but it pissed me off that they tried it in the first place. The rebater was RebateHQ I believe.

Yes you can. Companies like office-max hire rebate companies to handle rebates. This is because it is cheaper than issuing coupons, because even if you make a sale, people do not always send in their rebates on time or whatnot. This allows the rebate company to offer good deals/rates on rebate programs. Especially when they can claim they handled the rebate, but didnt pay the customer, but the rebate companies get paid. If they didn't get paid if the customer didnt get paid, this crap wouldn't happen.
