wow, 1998....I was using a 233mmx at that time , I thought it was pretty good, when I upgraded to a K6-2 400 later that year I was blown away by it...those where the days.

those were the days indeed... when overclocking was in its prime, and actually worth it

yep, I had my old 233 at close to 300mhz, it was pretty fast for the day, but I only had "64mb" of SDRAM ....I still have most of the components in boxes somewhere, except the mobo...it's currently in my K6-3 rig...I went all out back in early 98 and got a Gigabyte GA-5AA Aladdin V mobo...one of the first to support the 100mhz FSB on the super7 platform.

I still remember the guy at the PC store telling me it was overkill for the 233mmx that I got with it and I should get a i430TX mobo...lucky I didn't, I was pretty rapt when later that year I found out it supported the new K6-2 cpu.

I still even had the 2 powercolor Voodoo 2's and the 8mb Trident Blade that I used.

now that I think about it, other than the monitor (it's long been dead...poor old 15in NEC) I still have everything that I bought for it...and most still work, even the Quantum 4.3gb HDD.

man that was a good setup...it never gave any issues at all.

"The monitor is worth almost $5000". :Q

"This machine is Virtual Reality" Max Headroom Virtual reality, perhaps :)

Ah, the good old days indeed! Unfortunately back then I didn't have any money and had no choice but to use the families PC (a Compaq). I was running a P1 200MHz MMX with 32MBs of RAM and playing Starcraft on it.
