Tiger does not require ECC, but does require registered DIMMS. Using PC2400 memory would be pointless anyway as there are no memory settings to be tweaked on the board.
I've got the following system parts next to me. It's for a friend:
2 x AMD Athlon XP1800 OEM
2 x Thermalright SK6 w/ w Sunon Fan
Tyan Tiger MP
2GB (4 DIMM) Infineon PC2100 ECC Registered DDR SDRAM
2 x 36GB Seagate X15 (8MB Cache)
16x Pioneer 106S DVD-ROM
24x/10x/40x Lite-On CD-RW
A floppy 🙂
64MB Leadtek Geforce3 w/ DVI
Soundblaster Audigy Platinum
10/100 Intel Ethernet
Lian-Li PC60 Case (Silver)
Enermax 465 Power Supply
Adaptec 19160 for his old PC
He is going to recycle the RAID card from his current PC and dump the Adaptec SCSI controller in that one. It'll look kickass on his 24" Sony monitor. The GF3 is only there as a "placeholder" until the GF3 TI500 is available.
Next he has decided to get a 32MB Geforce2 PCI and attach another monitor to that just for kicks.
I've read that the XP processors will not work in a dual setup... In fact, that is supposed to be the only difference between the MP and XP versions of the Athlon.
The difference between MP and XP is that the SMP portion of the CPU has been tested in the MP. The chips are the same but there are no guarantees the XP will work in SMP. It's basically luck of the draw but several members here are running dual XP systems.
Tyan, did not make the Tiger for people to tweak 🙂. It's a rock solid server board. Mine runs 24/7 without a single hitch, except for theSB Live and its ridiculous crackling and driver issues. Dual Athlons rock 🙂.

Jees, Windogg. That's like the best desktop system I've heard in this forums. Post a thread and tell us the benchmark result please...
Just what I had in mind! Way to go. 😉 I've been wanting to build a system like that for a while now, to replace my Dual PIII450 w/Atlas 10K and various other SCSI devices. Just don't have the money though.
