Backed.

I loved UU and want to see more with no publisher hindrance! 🙂

I'll throw my hat in the arena and say Alternate Reality: The City was the 1st 3D animated dungeon crawler. (Not moving one block at a time) However, it's not a FULL 3D model. It has 90 degree turns, but fluidly animated forward and back. So, it's somewhere in between. 🙂

Purely off topic, any of you old timers remember BallBlazer or Rescue on Fractilus? Holy crap! AMAZING real 3D done on the Atari 800* and C=64! Fun games, too! Rescue would scare the crap out of me as a kid!

Back, slightly, on topic. Alternate Reality is the reboot I've been waiting for. It was so ahead of it's time it makes your head spin! (Not to mention "The Matrix" borrowed heavily from the plot)

Yeah, I played the crap out of those games on my Atari 800XL back in the day. I actually still play Ballblazer emulated from time to time to this day.

I backed this game as well. I hope I didn't jinx anything, because I have yet to back a game that actually met the funding goal.

Can't believe this thing isn't fully funded yet.

I think people are starting to get burnt out on crowd funded games worth waiting for.

It's sort of like having a Steam backlog. "Oh, I've got 17 games in my kickstarter backlog I'm waiting on to be released..." At some point you say enough is enough.

Plus unknown quality. At least with Steam games you have a pretty good idea based on reviews by critics and users.

That said, I enjoyed UUII.

Underworld 1 was amazing for its time. It wasn't sorta-3D like Wolfenstein or Bard's Tale (2D movement) you could cast a levitate spell and float up to the ceiling like in Morrowind.

IMO games make half their money in the first few days and 30% in the last two days. The rest is made in the middle. So at this stage I'm guessing this game will reach the 600k but not reach any of the other tiers which is a shame.

Not sure why, I'm only familiar with one Kickstarter game going to crap. Tides of Numera, Grim Dawn and Project Eternity were all funded extraordinarily well and look to be releasing soon in full.

Totally agree!

Honestly, if you are into software development, that is a GREAT track-record. This highlights (to me) the massive waste and unnecessary overhead with traditional game development these days. Just look at the quality to dev budget on this vs. a lot of other recent 'published' games and its staggering. I like knowing my money is going to devs that not only are enthusiastic about their project, but also directly to support the game.

Very true. Even if they can't make a HUGE game, if they make an exceptional smaller game, it'll be the proof it needs to give it a spectacular sequel.

I hope it's funded!

Thanks for the heads up. Went ahead and backed and it looks like all backers get a new weapon unlock since they hit 8k.

some games like uu were so good because they invented something new, with next gen graphics and nextgen mechanics.

this is the opposite of what uu were. this is retrogaming.

They are $60K short right now with 8 days left. If it fails to meet the goal and they don't proceed with the game I am assuming the backers money is gone and there is no refund in situations like this.

From Kickstarter 101:
Funding on Kickstarter is all-or-nothing. No one will be charged for a pledge towards a project unless it reaches its funding goal. This way, creators always have the budget they scoped out before moving forward.

Game wound up raising 860k and hit a decent number of stretch goals. Here's hoping it turns out well.
