ULTIMA WORLD RECORD! Thursday 19th August

640bhp GTR smashes 0-100mph-0 time by half a second

The Ultima Factory yesterday smashed the production car world record in an Ultima GTR for sprinting to 100mph and back to zero again beating times set by all manner of supercars.

Driven by Ultima Director, Richard Marlow, the factory built Ultima GTR set a new world record time of 10.3 seconds to achieve 0-100mph-0 smashing the previous record by half a second. The British built super car stormed from 0-60mph in 2.8 secs and reached 100mph from standstill in an incredible 5.9 secs before coming back to rest a mere 4.4 secs later.

Ultima are particularly proud that their record time beat the legendary £630,000 McLaren F1 road car by well over a full second at less than one tenth of the cost!

3 Videos at the bottom. Man, that car is FAST!

It's about 2300lbs, and uses a 640hp normally aspirated chevy V8. Some crazy guy over there at PistonHeads has a supercharged one too. Must be nuts.

Holy smokes, that's pretty snortin fast!
That's getting a little closer to motorcycle territory, I can't imagine a 2300lb car having that kind of surge.

See, its all skewed. The McLaren did the 0-100-0 in Mph, whereas this does it in Kph.
Not a fair assessment...... Everyone knows the McLaren > all
;)

maybe with a couple of big ass NOS stickers it would go even faster!

But I mean, with those kind of mods, it would no longer be a production car right?

Never were the sharpest knife in the drawer were you?

The Mclaren goes 0-60 MPH in 3.8 Seconds.

The Ultima GTR goes 0-100 KPH in 2.8.

Converty 60 mph to kilometers and it's almost 100 kph.

I'll believe it when I see an OFFICIAL clocking by Motor Trend/Car and Driver/etc. I could claim my Yugo does the same times.

Why is that? My 4200 lbs Mercury Marauder gets to 90 in second gear.

It's already verified by Datron. The datasheet should be available soon.

Website says street legal, the only other place I've seen that car is international sports car racing... impressive.

You do realize that weight and gearing/redline have nothing at all to do with each other, right?

BTW, my Integra is about that weight !

For one thing, the Marauder is an automatic (and a boat), so I'd guess it's probably a 4-speed system. Secondly, I'm guessing that the gear ratio on your Marauder is pretty long, since it's not designed to accelerate tremendously.

Also, why the heck would the Marauder top out it's second gear at 90 mph unless you've changed the ratiios? It's not like the Marauder has a drag-limited speed of 200+ mph, and the vast majority of drivers will never see anthing above 100mph on that car. I don't really understand why the engineers would set up the gear ratios this way, maybe there's something I'm not following?

Finally, from the looks of that video, they picked the gear ratio in the Ultima GTR so that it could hit 100 mph just as second gear was topping out. Pretty convenient for a test such as this one, wouldn't you say ;). Very impressive nonetheless.
